Read It Again, Sam

/ October 14, 2011/ book covers, books, favorites, Friday Fives/ 14 comments

The day job is breathing down my neck, so I can’t get truly dive into today’s Friday Fives topic. However, I put together five of the books I couldn’t get enough of as Single Digit Alicia.

Just looking at these is totally making me want to go read them. Right. Now.

What were some of your favorites as a kid?

  1. Oh, I loved the Poky Little Puppy. How did I forget the Poky Little Puppy?

  2. I'm not sure if it's a good thing that I still sometimes describe my days as terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad–but it shows how much I loved that book and how it stuck with me.
    Great choices!

  3. Ah! I don't know how I forgot about Bunnicula! Great choices 🙂

  4. The poky little puppy! I love that story. When I was a kid I wanted to hear it again and again.

  5. Such great ones! My boys know madeleine and the poky little puppy, but I really need to introduce them to these others.

  6. Yay! Poky Little Puppy!

Most of these are books I read with my children! Love your choices!

  7. Oooo, Bunnicula! I loved that book! Some of my favorites: THE PIGGY IN THE PUDDLE; BEAST IN THE BATHTUB, THE PAIN AND THE GREAT ONE; OX-CART MAN; aaaaand THE PUPPY WHO WANTED A BOY.

  8. The Velveteen Rabbit was one of my wife's favorites. I bought her a deluxe edition for our first Christmas after we married. Awww. 🙂 I'd never read it until then! Madeline was another I knew nothing about until I had children. The anthology we bought for our oldest child has been handed down (or tossed mercilessly, given its condition) to her siblings.

  9. Aww…the Velveteen Rabbit, I LOVED that one!

  10. Loved the Poky Little Puppy. Also the Velveteen Rabbit is such a beautiful story. Good choices.

  11. Why didn't I think of The Velveteen Rabbit?! I absolutely adored that book growing up. You've inspired me to read it to my daughter. 🙂

  12. I can't believe I forgot about Bunnicula! I read that and had nightmares that my pet rabbit would come into my room and suck my blood! Haha! Awesome list.

  13. Ah, Madeline! How could I forget that one? I loved that book too. 🙂

  14. Oooh – I just bought Alex a copy of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. =-)
