Ready. Set. Write! Week 2

/ June 16, 2015/ goals, phoenix rising, ready. set. WRITE!/ 20 comments

Ready. Set. WRITE! is a summer accountability series that is hosted by Jaime MorrowKaty UppermanAlison MilerErin Funk, and Elodie Nowodazkij. We set goals for the summer and check in weekly.

How I Did Last Week

PHOENIX RISING is all revised. As is the query letter. It’s all shiny and ready to go. I selected and read two complete books last week too. (SENTINEL and THE RETURN by Jennifer L. Armentrout) The only place I fell short was walking to work three times because… life, but that happens from time to time. And it’s not like I didn’t walk an equivalent on the days I didn’t walk to work. So, yeah.

My Goal(s) For This Week

  1. Send out at least 3 queries.
  2. Begin THE SECRETS WE KEEP by Trisha Leaver
  3. Work through 1-2 chapters of PLANNING YOUR NOVEL for SNI.
  4. Walk to work at least 3 times. (Honest)

My Favorite Line From My Story

“Your dad ended a war. What other kind of truth is there?”
It’s such a simple statement, but it’s loaded with so much stuff left unsaid.

The Biggest Challenge I Faced This Week

Time management. (You’ll see this show up. A lot.)

Something I Love About My WIP

I honestly love everything about my WIP. If I have to pick one specific thing, it would be the relationship between my MC and her secret boyfriend. Even when that relationship becomes messy, they just work well together.
How did your week go?

  1. Nicely done on the revisions! I had to revise my query this week too, which is never fun, so it's great that you got that all polished up too. Good luck with your goals next week, especially the querying!

  2. Congratulations on meeting most of your goals! That's awesome how you can walk to work. More people ought to do that, if they live close enough.

  3. What did you think of The Return? I loved it and am dying for the next book 🙂 I read it without reading the Covenant series but I didn't even really miss not knowing the backstory because SETH. Ahem. Anyway…Good luck with querying and your goals for this week!

  4. Secret boyfriend – now I want to know more! 🙂

    Good luck with querying!!!

  5. Your story sounds awesome! Good luck with the querying and all the things this week!

  6. Great line from your story… it has such a note of impending darkness.

And Time Management! I hear you there. May we both get better at that. 🙂

  7. I'm about to pick up THE SECRETS WE KEEP on hold from the library. 🙂 I totally hear you on the time management thing. Yep. Same here. Good luck with querying and getting started on that SNI! 🙂

  8. I love that one line you shared. It definitely packs a punch! And crossing my fingers for your querying 🙂 Cheering you on this week too!

  9. Hooray for complete revisions!! *sends Champagne* That's a great feeling. My fingers are crossed for you while querying!!

  10. Good luck with the querying! Your line made me so curious about your story! I wish you had a page with a list of your projects and info on what you're writing about!

  11. Thanks, Erin. Good luck on the query revision. 🙂

  12. Walking to work is so much better than driving or taking the bus. It gives me some time to decompress/get ready for the day ahead.

  13. I enjoyed it and am totally looking forward to the next book. You should definitely read the Covenant series because the story is fantastic.

  14. I can't tell you more, you'll just have to wait. 😉

  15. Thanks, Eden.

And I think that we all need a time management fairy.

  16. Thanks, Jaime. Let me know about THE SECRETS WE KEEP. I haven't started reading it yet. Life.

  17. Thanks, Elodie. 🙂

  18. Thanks, Tracey. (PS: How is it we *still* haven't connected and live in the same state?)

  19. Thanks, Karyne. One of my long term goals is to have that information on a page. But my web redesign is tabled for the time being.
